Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house....
Daddy was giving out cuddles,
lots of Christmas cake was eaten,
Grandparents snoozed,
Bobbie was excited,
Amy was even more excited.

Then Father Christmas paid a visit,

and went on his way.

London - Coming home for Christmas

Amy took a shine to Rebecca's shoes.
Dan used to live in these flats in Southfields for a short time, while serving a mission for our church.
Flying visit to Trafalgar Square...
and past the British Museum.
Flat out on the train home.
Happy to be home and have cuddles with Daddy.

London - Natural History Museum

The initial idea for a trip to London was sparked by a book that was given as a gift to Amy... Captain Flinn and the pirate dinosaurs. Donna, who knew I was a Flinn and - being a geologist - know a little about dinosaurs, couldn't resist. Amy absolutely loved the book and I made a mental note to take Amy to go see the dinosaurs at the natural history museum.

Thanks for letting us use your flat and shower cap Rebecca!
Spot the red jumper. Amy had a great time exploring the corridors and stairways.

Her favourite exhibit was the primates, skeleton monkeys were attached to the ceiling in positions to make them look like they were doing the monkey bars.

She didn't like the real thing one bit!

Amy absolutely loved the place and what we thought would only be a short visit ended up being a whole day out.

Pretty Christmas lights.
The gorgeous creperie in South Kensington.

London - British Museum

Dan got lucky with his rota and was scheduled the whole week before Christmas off. Obviously we wanted to do something with the time, and with Rebecca being in South Africa for the holiday, we sorted out a little trip to London.

Amy enjoyed the journey, it passed really quickly. Roy and Julie met us at Kings Cross and we headed down to the British Museum (one of my favourite places in London).

Running round the Elgin Marbles.

Climbing the steps round the reading room. The great court is just brilliant, the roof was designed by Norman Foster and completed in 2000. Apparently it's the largest covered square in Europe.
Grandma and Bobbie.
Amy getting very excited about spotting an eye painted on a mummies coffin.

Tennyson was a local Lincolnshire lad. There's a statue of him and his dog outside the chapterhouse of Lincoln Cathedral that Amy and I often play hide and seek around. Locals say that at the stroke of midnight he climbs down from the plinth and roams the neighbourhood! Needless to say, I've not bumped into him yet.
First time on the tube.
Yummy pizza at Southfields.
Back at the flat.

Ho ho ho

Amy gets creative with the bubbles and claims to be Father Christmas.

Nativity

Amy and the other nursery age children got the role of sheep in the church nativity performance. Unfortunately Dan missed out again because of work. It was lovely watching all the children enjoy themselves. To begin with Amy was reluctant about getting dressed up, but as you can see, she soon got used to it.

Amy and Oscar
This is the moment before Amy realises that I am in the audience and not in the wings of the stage and gets upset.

The star was really a star dancing all over the stage, but Oscar stole the show. At the end of the performance Oscar had somehow worked his way to the front of the stage. After the curtains closed it took a few moments for him to realise that he had been left behind and was on his own in front of a very big audience. What a kid! We had a lot of laughs.

Anna, Sam and Isaac pay a visit

We had a lovely day when Anna, Sam and Isaac came to visit. Unfortunately Dan was working the weekend so he missed out on our visit to the Healthy Hub for the Alternative Christmas markets and cupcakes made by Carrie-Anne.

Enjoying our hot pasties in the Cathedral quarter.
Interesting new house being built down the hill.

Bobbie being a cheeky little imp.
Relaxing in the warm.

One of the locals. Amy wanted to touch the cars eyelashes, so we got chatting...
and had a little go in the car.
Isaac aged 5 months.

Getting to know you.
Isaac is such a happy gorgeous little boy.

I had such a lovely day just relaxing and catching up with Anna and Sam. It's great to have such wonderful friends!
