Snowy Sunday

This is what I have to contend with!  Fortunately Katy is a rubbish shot and I didn't even have to dodge one snowball from the barrage!

We were walking home from church - half way home we saw a giant black snow cloud headed our way, and it started snowing before we made it home.  It was fun though!  It hasn't been as snowy in Derby as elsewhere in the country

We found some interesting mushrooms growing on a stump.

Katy has been doing lots of knitting.  This is one of her more recent creations.  She got a book from the library with lots of different patterns in.  Not being able to decide on one pattern she rolled a whole variety into one - I like it!

New cousin!!!

It was great to see Anna and Sam on Monday. Amy had a great time! As hard as she tried, she didn't actually get to eat the snickers icecream.

Amy and I also finally saw our new baby neice/cousin. She is so cute and tiny (well, only in comparison) and only 4 weeks old. I think Amy is seeing if her cheeks are as chubby as hers!

December so far...

Christmas preparations have been moving quite nicely. I'm reall excited about it being Christmas soon and it being Amy's first (I really just can't wait to play with her presents)! There have been a few highlights from the past few weeks: Visiting the Lincoln Christmas Market with a voiceless Carrie-Anne, a dinner dance with a bunch of young marrieds from church and of course Amy enjoying new food. I've also thrown in an extra picture of Amy, just because she's cute.

Food and photos

We've had a tiring couple of weeks with Amy waking up in the night every few hours, picking up colds and Dan working hard for his exams. We are all looking forward to the Christmas break and hoping to go on holiday. I just think we've left getting Amy's passport a bit too late. Here are some of our homemade passport photo attempts. We resorted to getting offical ones done in a booth which was quite a laugh, Amy was not at all interested in looking at the camera and trying to position myself out of view required some contortion skills.

We decided that the lack of sleep has been down to Amy getting hungry in the night, so this morning Amy tried her first real food! She absolutely wolfed it down and seemed very pleased with herself. I can't wait to start giving her lots of exciting food!

T-rex

I finally got around to sewing together my next amazing knitting creation... as you can see, sewing things on straight is a skill I definitely need to work on!

A hat and a cousin

Amy got a new cousin yesterday.  She also got a hat.  We don't know which she is more excited about.

Dan's Birthday and Amy's New High Chair

Fun was had by all on Dan's birthday. After his morning lecture we took the bus out to Bakewell where we had a fish and chip lunch, bought a Bakewell pudding and took a short walk to Ashford in the Water. Later that evening after a nice meal at home, Dan's parents made a surprise visit to babysit Amy. We ended up seeing Fantastic Mr Fox at the cinema and going on the big wheel in the city centre. Yesterday, I decided to give Amy a go in her new high chair (thanks Tiffany!) to start getting her used to it, in preparation for meal times. She quickly got the hang of what you are supposed to do with a spoon!

Wednesday 28 October 2009

Hi all!

I have finally got on board the goosemail train so can now post what Amy and I have been up to. Amy, as you can see is her usual happy self and I've been having a creative spurt. On Sunday mum brought over a tonne of wool and I picked out a load of colours to start knitting!!! Very exciting. I completed my first project yesterday, mini baby mittens. This is just the start of great things! I must admit that the mittens don't actually fit Amy too well, however, I am pleased with the outcome because I adapted a pattern and managed to make it work! Not bad for a first attempt I think. The pumpkins are my harvest from the pumpkin patch this year, also not bad for a first attempt at a garden. I planted the patch when I was 40 weeks pregnant!! I wanted to get a picture of them all before the halloween massacre begins. We'll be eating lots of pumpkin over the next few weeks.

Sunday Lunch

Grandma and Grandad and Great Grandma came for Sunday lunch today.  It was yummy!  We made a four generations photo: Grandma, Great Grandma, Mummy, Baby.  Thanks to modern technology the photo was developed straight away.

On Friday Amy discovered something tastier than her thumb:

Kinder Scout

Some photos from Kinder Scout and Edale in September, using my car boot sale camera.

Amy's blessing

On Sunday at church, Amy was given a name and blessed.  Almost all of both our families were there, and some friends too.  We had a big buffet afterwards (thanks Sam and Carrie-Anne!) all in our living room.  The nephews helped save space by eating their food under the tables!  They scuttled out of their hiding places like rodents to grab some more cherry bakewells before hiding away again.  Did I just call my nephews rodents?

We really enjoyed ourselves and had a lovely day.

Hiking Baby
Amy on Jacob's Ladder coming off Kinder Scout - 19 September.  She looked at me with this quizzical face the whole way down.  She loves hiking!
