Butterfly House

We visited the Butterfly House with the Bamforths. It was rainy on and off during the day, but the sun came out to stay later in the afternoon. It isn't a very big wildlife park, but it had plenty of variety and I was impressed with the quality of the park and its staff. They clearly really cared for the animals and the park and the enclosures were well maintained. We all had a really lovely day.

Highlights included 'encounters' with the Lemurs, the butterfly house itself, the parrot and bird of prey shows, and the tractor ride. This was truly bizarre, but the kids absolutely loved it. Basically you piled into a tractor trailer which drove around the back of the park (you couldn't even see any animals on the route) and static water sprays squirted all the passengers as they drove by, and then you drove back again... through all the water sprays. There were lots of quirky little things in the park, some with nothing to do with wildlife.

The lemurs took a shine to Damian.

 This owl was being flown around the park at the end of the day for some exercise when the park was less busy. When she flew past the lemur enclosure all the lemurs went nuts!
