It's nice to be able to meet up with Dan for picnic lunches on Tuesdays.

Alport Castles

Joseph got his first outing in the baby backpack. We went for an afternoon hike at Alport Bridge up to Alport Castles (not real castles, just rocks that look like castles).

Spider!

This chap has been hanging around our living room scaring the girls. I finally caught it and Dan can get rid of it when he gets back from his meeting. Dan loves spiders especially big fat hairy ones. Ask him about the spider in our room in Kodaikanal in India when you get a chance.

Not a great quality shot, but I'm really pleased that Bobbie has started to get into drawing. She created this portrait at playgroup today, not too sure who it is though.

Bobbie Starts Play School

Bobbie started her first morning at playschool. It felt a bit strange leaving her there, it was quite chaotic and very noisy. She was perfectly happy and didn't make any fuss at all when I left. That left me with the morning free to do as I pleased. I almost went home to do housework, but I resisted and instead headed down Ecclesall Road to have a mooch around the charity shops.

I picked up this for 50p. I love old photos, for those of you who don't know Sheffield, a large proportion of the houses round our area look like this (minus the iron work, I guess it was all taken and used in the war).

Joseph got hungry so I headed to the botanical garden for a feed. You really wouldn't believe you are in the middle of a big city in that place.

Jolly Joseph.

Mauritania Geology Project

Here are a few rocks one of my friends picked up on her way back from Mali. They all came from the South Western side of Mauritania. Pam was surprised to find shells so far inland in the Sahara. I'd love to see the landscapes she's driving through. I can only imagine! Check out her website: http://diemavillage.wordpress.com/. She's on her way to Mali again at the moment with a truck full of supplies to help out a number of the projects out there.

Walk to Mother Cap

We enjoyed our little walk out to Mother Cap. It's one of the first walks we have gone on with Joseph in the sling. It was also the first time we tried carry him forwards. He seemed pretty happy and was busy looking around at everything.

Lots of lovely mushrooms. I really want to know what are safe to pick. There are so many mushrooms in the peaks.

Back to School

Amy is happy to be going back to school. Year 1 should be exciting, she has the same teacher as last year, they are even in the same classroom, as lots of work is starting on the school to increase the capacity.

Rebecca has been staying with us for the past couple of weeks doing her GP attachment in Sheffield. It's been lovely having her around. The kids have enjoy the extra attention.

Last Day of Summer

This pretty much sums up the last day of our summer holidays. We packed the swimming costumes and headed to Bakewell for a day of paddling, play, icecream and chips. It was such a lovely relaxing way to finish the holiday. I particularly enjoyed chatting to an old couple while feeding Joseph and they shared their chips with the girls.
